In a quest to embody the core value of “Deliver WOW”, on the theme of sustainable cities, the GQ team embarked on a remarkable adventure, weaving sustainability into the very fabric of their exploration. This cultural initiative not only showcased the DNA of GQ but also outlined a promising path forward for the team.

GQ’s team taking the public transportation to get to the next clues

The GQ team, fueled by passion and commitment, was divided into three groups, each assigned with deciphering clues and navigating their way through the city of Kuala Lumpur using only public transportation. Starting their journey at a designated MRT Station, the teams embraced the challenge, diving into the heart of the city to explore and discover hidden architectural gems, and ample photo taking opportunities as well to mark their presence.

Two main tasks and a set of optional challenges awaited the teams, demonstrating the GQ team’s dedication as they not only fulfilled the mandatory tasks, but enthusiastically embraced the optional challenges. This showcased the team’s zest for excellence, embodying the spirit of “Deliver WOW” in every step and the desire to go the extra mile. Despite potential hurdles and unexpected delays, the GQ team remained focused, committed and punctual, which reflects the true essence of the “Deliver WOW” culture.

The winning team leading with 167 points

Navigating the bustling city solely through public transportation, each team member clocked in over 15,000 steps, demonstrating their commitment to reducing carbon footprint by not using any private vehicles to get to the next clues even though time was of supreme essence. It was a fun and educational experience to identify green building projects around KL, fostering a deeper understanding of the city’s infrastructure and the government’s efforts toward sustainability which will be valuable in our dealings with current and future clients.

Sie Ting, GQ’s Associate Director won the individual prize

With ‘The Evergreens’ team clinching the first-place victory as a team, and Sie Ting securing the individual prize, the day was a testament to the team’s competitive spirit and commitment to success. The rewards, ranging from Royce sets of chocolate to a rejuvenating RM150 Spa voucher, were well-deserved acknowledgments of their achievements.

As the team gathered at the office for the closing ceremony, the atmosphere was filled with camaraderie, shared experiences and welcoming desserts. Team members recounted their adventures and discoveries throughout the hunt during a sharing session and it was an eye-opener for all to appreciate afresh the city’s offerings in terms of sustainable building projects by home grown architects, such as the The Five, a revitalised development in Damansara Heights, the modern concrete Chempenai House and the 1st GBI Platimun rated house in Malaysia.
